Inspection hatch to small roof void?

Our bungalow has a loft conversion with a small roof void, probably less than a metre from the bedroom ceiling plasterboard to the ridge beam of the roof. There's no access to that roof void (although electrics and ventilation ducts run through it).

The tiles on the roof are becoming twisted. We need to check the condition of the ridge beam and surrounding felt.

How can we inspect that small roof void? Install inspection hatches?

Identify where the ceiling joists are. Cut out a square of plaster board, being careful of cables, etc above the plasterboard.
Fix two pieces of timber across between joists, to create a frame. Create a lip/rebate to the newly created frame by fixing smaller pieces of timber around the perimeter. Cut a square piece of ply/MDF or similar to fit the hole. Hey presto.
I would add a draft strip around the top of the rebate where the new hatch sits and fix insulation to the top of the hatch.

You're probably best to choose a spot well away from potential cable or pipe runs.

A picture of the roof may well allow an experienced roofer to identify the problem.
