Struggling installing Hive on EcoMax boiler.

The Hive install was fine, but the old VRT thermostat that came with the boiler also needs to be set to on.

Anyone advise what I need to do to disable the old VRT?

The receiver fitting instructions don't mention removing any blanking plugs within the front compartment.
It may be worth just prying out the receiver, removing the plug connected to the eBus and seeing if the Hive will take control.

Prying out the receiver at the front has sorted it.

The pins are on the receiver, so nothing to disconnect, and no live pins left exposed.

Insulation tape over the holes for good measure, and it's working perfectly.

Thank you so much for your help with this.

Thanks for letting us know.
Various boilers have different ways of bridging out the connections.
It's good to know that simply removing the eBus connection will default the boiler to 240V switching.
9.2 states remove blanking plate (1), mate.
Yes, that's just the blanking plate for the control compartment, not a blanking plug for the timer links.

I have the same boiler and I have just purchased the Hive V2 set up. I am going to attempt to install myself, did you use 5 core flex? Also the removal of the receiver on the boiler front, did you just use a flat head screwdriver? Many thanks

I didn’t use anything as it’s not my post, I merely contributed to the post. 5 core heat resistant flex is what I use anyway (I’m a gas safe registered engineer). Yes flat head for th receiver.
