I have a new exterior wall light to fit,

Can i fit it directly via my vestibule light switch by fitting a new double switch ? ( 2 x L1,L2,comms ) replacing the single switch that is there at the moment.

wires in light switch are 2 red live and an earth attached to box in wall

and wires in external light are red live ,blue nuetral and earth (yellow/green).

I know that both earths are attached to box in wall and that the live goes to one of the comms with a short piece of live between 2 comms.....

after this i am puzzled as to how or where i place the blue nuetral from the external light.....any help from any of you experts would be greatly appreciated

as your last bit says, there is no neutral, so it wont work.

look in the wiki, or the sticky section

as breeser correctly said , no neutral, no workie.

you may find it easier to use a s/f/spur (with a 3a fuse) off the ring. just another idea if its possible.

Thanks for your comments ELZ ...but i am a novice...whats is a s/f/spur , and what does it do....?

its a switched fused spur which looks like this

bassically it gives the option to have a switchable fixed appliance. you can put any plug top fuse in it. this must be rated accordingly though.

Might be better to avoid touching the fixed wiring and use 3-core flex and a 13amp plug top to power the outside light. Using a 3amp fuse in the plug of course.
