Installation of Hive on Baxi combi with mechanical timer and Siemens wireless thermostat.

I have a Hive to replace the simple mechanical timer and Siemens wireless thermostat for my Baxi combi boiler (see photos). Before starting I would appreciate advice on the following;
- Do I remove the existing timer entirely (it is fitted in the lower boiler case)?
- Will the Hive receiver fit directly onto the Siemens receiver backplate/wiring?
- anything else I should beware of?

Hi Ian and welcome to the forum.

Exchanging the Siemens for a Hive has already been covered before. You can find how to do it by clicking here.

The only difference for you, is that in your case, you will need to leave the boilers inbuilt timer set to be permanently on, 24/7. The Hive will then take over control from it.

Hi Stem,

I have moved into a property with a Baxi boiler fitted and after previously installing / swapping a thermostat in the old property for a Hive system I’d like to do the same here. However, the Baxi boiler does not have a thermostat fitted and just uses the mechanical timer…. With gas prices the way they are and Hive allowing greater control I’m desperate to work out where to wire the receiver into the boiler… :-/ Any help would be much appreciated!

You could start by stating which Baxi model it is, and you’ve also hijacked an old post, which can get confusing.

I’m sorry to hijack the post, I was looking for something which was most relevant and I’m not one normally for forums so I apologise, just didn’t want loads of threads related to the same thing. The boiler is a Baxi Platinum 28.

No need for apologies, it’s just better to state this and it’s forum rules. Anyway yours would be really easy. Using 5 core heat resistant flex Piggyback the L-N-E from boiler and take terminals 1 and 2 to Common and NO to Hive, which are 1 and 3, either way around doesn’t matter, set mechanical timer to permanently on and let Hive do the rest.
