Installing an outside light

I would like to instal an outside light. On the wall were i wish to place the light is the outside of the dining room.
Would it be possilbe to change the single switch in the dining room for a double switch and then run a cable through the wall to pwer the outside light.

No you cant. There is no neutral in the light switch that you have, only a live and a switched live.

You would need to obtain a live and neutral from a nearby light fitting and also wire to your switch.
