Hi,

I have recenlty bought a electric ceramic hob to repalce with electric hob.

I done some electronics long time ago so I thought it just needs stright cable connection.

I have done the connections, and fine it worked.. after few days that it was operational, two of the plates stopped working.

I have opened and looked inside to find that the cable connections to the unit have sligtly melted.

Two of the four are still operational. I have removed the cabling from the connections from the one that does not work.

Anyone one out there what would be your advice? An help would be appriciated...

Return it to the retailers/manufacturers and tell them you want one that isn't going to pack up straight after you have installed it.

(I take it that this was a brand new hob ?)

What size (ie Amps or kW) was the old hob and what size the new one?
What is the rating of the circuits breaker for the circuit?
Are you sure that you make the new connections nice and tight?
There are often 'links' that you have to make at the connection terminals - did you check that these were still OK, as this can cause plates to stop working.
