mark the shape on the wall. try an avoid gettin it where there is a beam behind it. if you do hit a beam, drill a bit outta the beam and use a metal box.
once youve marked it, use a padsaw and cut out. you sometimes have to cut a little more out so it fits neatly. dont worry about making it too small. better than too big
 
iirc you push them through the hole then push the screw things outwards then screw the accessory on.

A one gang box has the same footprint. You can use one of these with a level to draw the outline on the stud wall. Make sure you miss any studs by a good few mm's, as you need room for the lug.

Insert the cable into the box first, then the box into the hole you cut. Once home, push the lugs sideways, and towards the front of the box if possible. Once you have screwed the accessory on tightly, this will hold the box firm in the wall.
