I want to self install active heating myself. Current thermostat is a Honeywell and only has 3 wires (images attached). How would I wire this to the hive receiver? Any help is greatly appreciated

The yellow and red wires in your existing thermostat terminals 1 and 3 are the switching wires. You should have the combi version of the Hive (single channel) and the wires will go to the receiver terminals 1 (Common) and 3 (Heating on).

The earth wire is safely parked out of the way in the Hive's 'earth tether'

The Hive will also need a permanent 230V mains supply connecting to N & L to power it. This doesn't appear to be present, so will require a cable running from the Hive to the 'load' N & L terminals of the same fused connection unit (FCU) that supplies the boiler.

Alternatively, you could locate the Hive next to the boiler FCU and connect the 230V supply directly to it, and then reroute the existing thermostat cable to the Hive. This would be a more professional way as the receiver is not really designed to be 'out on show'.

If the boiler has an integral timeswitch, this will need to be set to be permanently 'on' otherwise it will interfere with the operation of the Hive.
