Hi all,

I'm doing a bit of decoration around the house, including changing all of our light switches so they're all consistent.

I've done the downstairs ones which includes:

Kitchen - 1 gang 1 way
Hall - 2 gang 2 way (controlling upstairs and downstairs hall lights)
Living Room - 1 gang dimmer switch.

I made sure I marked the wires with a sharpie so they went in the correct place and took a picture of the old wiring for reassurance. All well and good.

I've now moved upstairs and done:

Hall - 1 gang 2 way
Bedroom 1 - 1 gang 1 way.

I've not got to the other 2 bedrooms yet.

The issue I've got now is that when the downstairs dimmer switch is on the only light that works upstairs is the Hall light. All other bedroom lights, including the ones I've not touched yet don't work at all. When I turn the dimmer off, everything is fine upstairs...

I'm a bit baffled to be honest.

If it makes any difference the lights aren't secured in yet as I've had to put a bit of filler around the switches because there was a gap.

What does the dimmer switch control?

When you say upstairs hall, do you mean the landing or that the hall light is controlled from upstairs.
