installing outside light need help

Trying to wire in my outside light to come on the same time as my downstairs hallway light, the swhitch also controls the upstairs hallway light to.

So unscrewed the light switch and was instantly confused all the wires appear to me to be live, the blue and yellow wire has a little red tag on them so I'm assuming there live too



Is there a way to do this or will I need a 4 way??

All the wires in those switches are live.

To connect the new light, a neutral is required.

So, you need to take that bit of trunking off the wall, fill in all the holes and repaint.

Then, run the cable from the outside light to the downstairs hallway light.

It might have been better if you had looked at the wiring diagrams on the WIKI before you started out!

However I can run the wire through the trunk up to the ceiling....but then I will have to lift the floor boards to get to the wiring.......so that's a job for another day
