Installing TRV's

Hi

I am wanting to install TRV on all the radiators upstairs. Do I have to drain the entire system, or can these be fitted without draining.
 
You will have to partially drain the system unless you freeze the pipe or use a bung in the vent and the f+e pipe.
 
Thanks for replying. In the loft there are 2 tanks, one big, one small. Which of these tanks is the feed for the central heating? Am I right that the stop cock to turn off the water will be on the bottom somewhere?
