Depends if your installer is fensa registered - if they are they will probably handle that side of things for you (and include in the overall cost), if not then to comply with building regs you will need to get it inspected and signed off for a fee.
super thanks for that, v helpful, clears that up for me, i wanted to use the guy i had a recommendation for, but he was a bit vague on the subject, said you only need certification if its a whole house your doing.
The rules are that any window or 50% glazed door should be either installed by a self certifying member of FENSA or CERTASS, or an application to the council for building regs approval is required.
But. If the thing is going to be installed properly, then do you need a bit of paper? Perhaps for when you sell? Or perhaps not.
However I'd always advise to be cautious with any tradesman or firm that does not know the regulations they should be working to, even if they don't always work to them. Knowing the regulations, and being able to say why not keeping to them is no big deal, is a better sign than being clueless or giving misinformation.
Many thanks for that most helpful i going to see another supplier in the morn and its v helpful to be clued up- the doors actually not for me, organising it for a friend who needs a hand, an i know house wont be sold anytime soon but i agree with you it doesnt inspire confidence if one doesnt know the regs i woulda had more confidence if he hada said heres the deal nows its up to you if you want the paper i not tryin to be smart but i spendin approx £700 on someones behalf
