I have got a 18 month old double oven grill (new world) to be installed and wonder if anyone could advise me -

1) Is it now illegal to alter electrics yourself as I have heard that new regulations are coming in ?
2) If I do not have a cooker fuse (in the wylex fuse box) and I have to have to have a 'spur' installed from there across a 5ft (width) kitchen and a box installed to wire in the oven - what sort of (I Know -approx) quote would I be looking at

thanks.

1. new regulations have come in (known as part p), and have been in for 15 months now. You can DIY, but have a chat with your building control dept. first, they will tell you what you need to do. There is a charge for them to inspect.

2. judging by the level of understanding shown here (no offence intended), i advise you dont do it yourself. Quote depends on the work involved. Get a few quotes. Sparks usually charge nothing for a quote, so it doesn't hurt.
