Insulating a compost bin

I doubt it worked. A compost heap needs air to function, something that will not be possible if he used wheelie bins.
Well that's what I thought but the fact that they were experimenting with what matierials provided the best heat source. Just coil a load of polypipe in your compost pile, plumb that into your hot water system and theres a free water heater!
