Insulating behind UPVC cladding boards

The outside of my 1960's house has white UPVC cladding on a wood frame over a 150mm low density block wall. Can I insulate this, or am I wasting my time.
Do cavity wall insulation companies fill the space behind the cladding?

you can fit insulation to any voids. and yes, it can make a difference. a rigid board insulation would be best, ie celotex or kingspan.
