My house is a 70s box and it is freezing - I have loft insulation and I am planning to get cavity wall but any suggestion on following:

1. Uninsulated concrete ground floors - any ideas or had any success in insulating these

2. Integral garage:

a) The wall between the main house and garage is one layer of dry lined concrete block what is the cheapest and quickest way of insulating?

b) The bedrooom floor over the garage is not insulated - I have laid laminate flooring on insulating underlay but floor and room is still very cold. ideally I could lift the whole floor and fill the void with glass fibre wool but a bit of a hassle - any ideas for insulating from inside of garage - further complicated by fact that asbestolux sheeting is nailed to the joist and forms garage ceiling so I want to minimise any disturbance. I was thinking of screwing batons to ceiling through asbestolux and into joists and fixing suitable insulating material. Any suggestions?

Finally we are thinking of converting the garage to a room at some point so it has to be a suitable surface for a habitable room - don't really want to rip it all out when we convert.

retro fitting inso' to concrete floors could be difficult because of the thickness required (60mm to 100mm depending on density i.e. celotex, polystyrene etc). dividing walls between garage and habitable can be upgraded using styrofoam backed plasterboards spot dabbed to the internal wall and skimmed. if you were thinking of installing new wiring or pipes in the garage ceiling space then perhaps rip the asbestolux down, do the carcassing, fill the void with celotex or rockwool (rockwool is better for sound deadening ) and re fix 12.5mm fireboards and skim.
