Hi

Can I ask for your thoughts regarding having insulation around ceiling downlighters.
They must generate a lot of heat which will need to dissipate and will struggle with 10 inches of insulation around them.

Should I box them in with plasterboard to ensure there is some ventilation around them?

metal fire hoods are available to keep the insulation off the fittings..
the space between the rafters should be empty, and a corresponding distance parallel to the rafters, centered on the light..

especially if you happen to find a bargain sheet of slightly damaged board at your local DIY shed... ( 8 x 4 12mm board for 89p... gotta love it.. )
