Intercom not working

Hello!

We live in a building and for some reason our intercom isn’t working anymore. If you buzz our flat we can hear it ringing, but they can’t hear us and we can’t hear them. When they’re buzzing, it doesn’t make a sound to know that the buzzer is working either (if that makes sense). We pay a service charge to live in this building and I was wondering if this is an issue that we could fix because it’s a problem in our flat or could it be a building issue with the intercom at the door?! I opened our intercom but I couldn’t see anything wrong with it (maybe I don’t know what to look for) but I would appreciate if anyone could help us with what the issue could be.

may be handset lead as these are tone generated ( no buzzer ) or faulty switch under the plastic receiver ….it’s a BELL 801 handset so pretty cheap to replace , if your paying a service charge ask first to see if it’s covered
