Interesting way of saving on one choc block

Someone had done this in my outside loo, where there is an incoming live feed to the switch and the light run from there, but rather than a choc block, they did this:

Common - switched live cable to light fitting (reason why becomes apparent)
L1 - Permanent live supply
L2 - both 2.5mm neutrals filed down to fit in the terminal on the 2 way switch

Good idea until someone who doesn't know what they are doing rewires it (thankfully I did!) - or someone tries changing the bulb when some other connected equipment is dumping a load of juice to neutral through a fault or such like.

Oh, the other thing, thankfully I was fitting it indoors, but don't buy one of the five quid "IP44" bulkhead lights from B&Q and expect it to be ok outside, it's a shonky heap of junk....

I'm having trouble picturing this as a valid concern

But yes, its sloppy, slashdash and I don't like it, and could perhaps lead to a possible risk of striking an arc across the switch!

someone appeared to have that in a post last week, except the screw was missing from the switch terminal, where the neutrals were in.
when he pulled the switch off , he was faced with 3 stripped neutrals , no connecter block and could not work out where they went.
I presume like yours they were in the spare 2 way terminal, as the lights were ok before.

The spare terminal is only spare if the permanent and switched live are swapped though, otherwise if someone rewires it and puts the lives back the opposite way it'll create a short - not sure where I was going with the other thing, as the light will have a neutral to it anyway, seem to have confused myself with that.
