Dear reader,

I had a plumber doing some work at my new house recently, he had to drain the plumbing of my central heating in order to do some work in the bathroom. After he was done I saw him filling the boiler (Intergas Xtreme 36) again, while it was still turned on and clearly actively heating. I remember reading in the instruction booklet that you should turn the boiler off while filling it with water. I mentioned this to him but he said that this is just a general advice that isn't really necessary for newer type boilers.

It kind of left me with an uneasy feeling. Is it bad what he did and if so, why? Can it damage the boiler? Should I worry?
