Hello!

The new house we moved into has brilliant white in the front room. The walls catch the light and have 'pitted' patches (like orange peel).

Is there any way to get rid without having to skim?

What caused this to start with? The pitting isn't in the plaster, just the paint and isn't super deep, but is pretty noticable due to the (nice!) way the sun runs along the wall.

Any help would be superb!

:)

I would be inclined to sand the orange peel away BUT to do so you will need a decent random orbital sander, preferably connected to a dust extractor.

If the paint is vinyl silk rather than matt it will be slightly more difficult because the paint will be more inclined to overheat and gum up the sandpaper.

It may be cheaper and quicker to line the walls though, using 1200 or higher paper.
