Intermediate switch query

Hi

I need to replace a 2g switch which was originally a grid switch with a 2 way and an intermediate switch for 2 floors in a hallway. If I buy a normal intermediate 2g switch, will this be ok for the what was just the 2w switch, ie. is it just a case of not connecting to all 4 connectors?

A 2-way switch can also be used as a 1-way switch.

An intermediate switch can also be used as either a 2-way or a 1-way switch.
