Hi all,
I am about to take on a total house renovation (farmhouse circa 1850). I am currently planning how to tackle the work that needs doing and am struggling to decide between internal and external insulation. The external walls are 9" solid brick and cement rendered with a Tyrolean finish. The house is 216m2 over 2 storeys.
Externally, the render has been added to (patched up) over the years and will need replacing anyway, as it looks horrendous and has blown in numerous places.
Internally, I understand that I will lose some space and possibly an element of character by insulating.
Differences in cost will be a factor I'm sure (I have yet to look too deeply into this) but I am interested if there are any other factors that I should be considering before i make a decision.
Thanks in advance
