I am re-fitting a kitchen in a 1930s house which is Brick Built Cavity wall and a concrete floor.
The walls when built have been rendered down to floor level, however I have been advised that this may have been the cause of some of the blistering where the mosture has been drawn up as the render and plaster should stop about 4 inches above the floor?
I have removed some blistered plaster at the base of the external wall as well as some ares of blown render.
Questions:
1. Should the render have this gap which in my new kitchen will be hidden by skirting boards?
2. What type of Sand Cement mix should I use to repair the blown plaster.
3. Should I PVA the brickwork before rendering.
I will not fit skirting behind the wall cabinets.
