My computer has suddenly started to connect to the internet at start up. I have Norton Internet Security 2005 installed with ME windows and prior to this a message appeared "msn win amp exe" is try to connect , Norton recommended allowing I allowed once then when it happened again I permanently blocked. I have run virus scan but to no avail. Can anyone help?

I assume from the message you received that you have MSN (messenger) running on your PC and listen to music using the WinAMP plug-in to MSN.

If this is the case, the most likely cause of the connect is the WinAMP plugin trying to retrieve song info, or a "now playing" skin from the web. Which is not really an issue.

I would suggest that you prevent MSN from loading at startup and see if the error still occurs. If it doesn't, you can probably safely ignore it. If it keeps happening and gets annoying (i.e you are on dial-up!), then you will need to dig a bit deeper to see what it is trying to download from the net.

Cheers
Merv
