If its a male threaded plug screwed into a fitting try warming the fitting with a blowlamp but keep the heat off the plug as much as you can,this will help in expanding the fitting off the plug,it also softens any jointing compound that has gone hard,make sure you are holding the fitting with a stilson against the way you are trying to undo the plug and locking the holding stilson against something such as a block of wood or brick free's up both hands for undoing,if its a female cap on a male thread then same procedure but warm the cap keeping the heat off the pipe,same result,skinned knuckles and a big grin.
