Afternoon All,
I have now opened up my fireplace, lined it with Hardiebacker and am awaiting a chimney sweep before purchasing a log burner, I now have another couple of questions I would mind some help with.
I am going to be tiling the inside of the fireplace with porcelain tiles, the hearth is being made of natural stone, which I will mortar in place. Do the tiles have to be laid with heat resistant tile adhesive? I have asked in a few shops and they have said no, the chimney sweep said yes and google has mixed responses. Anyone done something similar and have any recommendations?
The whole outside of the chimney will be re plaster boarded and then we are going to brick slip it as the original bricks are all over the place and look quite shocking. Where the brick slips meet the tiles around the outside of the place, would you put a metal tile trim to hide where they meet? Or would this get too hot and cause a problem?
Thanks
John
