Is it ok to place and compact hardcore on soggy ground?

I am building a garden studio and have finished the blockwork upto ground level. The floor area has been dug out but is now very soggy due to rain .

Does anyone know if it is ok to put the hardcore down on this soggy ground and compact it or am i going to have to do some more digging

Also, is it ok to leave the compacted hardcore exposed over the winter or will the ground below become saturated?

Dig a hole in the corner and pump out any water that fills there, or if your leaving it until next year then do nothing.
