Hi,

I'm coming to the end of a renovation project, with just the kitchen to go. I will be tiling the floor, but have a question about the floor surface...

there used to bve some horrible carpet on the floor (like the carpet tiles) and all the foam off the back has welded itself to the floor. i've gone over it with a scraper and then used an angle grinder with sander to get as much off as possible, but obviously it's not ALL off. Will this be OK to to tile straight onto?

under the foam are vinyl tiles, with concrete under them. Would I be best to pull up the vinyl tils and tile onto concrete?

thanks for your help,

Al.

If it's just the adhesive, you should be alright, but if there's any foam left then I would advise shifting it all.
If the vinyl tiles are well stuck down then you should be ok. Obviously, it'd be better to remove the tiles but it's not essential.
