hi i have started my extension and am doing the footings am getting concreate deliverd soon and was thinking i need about 6mcube so a full truck,have been told i only get 45 miniutes to unload is this possible i can get about 4 mates to help and only about 10metres up side of house thinking this must be about 200 barrows??
is it possible??

First thing --- if you are unloading on the pavement make sure you put plenty of plastic dpm etc down as you don't want to be trying to clean concrete stains off the road --- local authoritys can screw you if you make a mess and get caught for it.
We usually end up doing about 20 barrows per cubic metre, with time of 10mins per cubic metre.
If you have a flat run to the footings it is so much easier than even the slightest slope --- if you have a slope then you are looking at £60+ per hour for waiting time unless you can slip the driver a drink for any time over your 45mins.
If you're going to pay your mates to help out then it may be cheaper to get a concrete pump in for the job --- get a static pump (smaller wagons with rubber hoses connected together rather than large boom type concrete pumps, cost around £250 += VAT for hire)
Other costs nay be --- barrows, Hamerlin are around £30+, Chillingdon cost not far behind, so if you are gonna have to buy 4/5 barrows and pay your mates it may be easier to get a small pump in.
Also, make sure your mates are used to it as barrowing concrete is not as easy as you may think
Finally --- always order a little bit over what you need, just in case your driver has dropped a little bit off to a mate on the way

Sqidd has clearly laid a bit of concrete. Two good lads running the barrow are well worth their bread for the day if they average a M3 every 10 minutes. The first 4 cube are okay, the last 2 make your nuts tingle.

cheers got 3 barrows and mates are doing me a favor,looked at pumps but to expensive so barrow it is.. do u think if i cost for say about 75 mins i can get it done in that time as its only 30 mis over which will only be £30 more
Depends whether your mates are on zimmer frames? 
Speak to your concrete supplier, explain your position and that you wish to cooperate with them as much as possible. Ask them how much to put a bit of retarder in the mix. When your time is up shoot what is left out in drum on to lump of poly. Bit of extra work, but may save you a few bob.

Not sure if they are still around but go for a different strategy and find yourself a 'mixer-mate' company - they arrive with a lorry mounted mixer and the ballast and cement and mix the concrete in front of your very eyes, and it used to be that you paid for what you used - Its up to you to get the mixed concrete from the mixer to point of use, either barrow or provide a pump unit.
Possibly a more leisurely adventure than panicking over 30/45min to get the job done in - would make for a Saturday job with your mates and a chill out over a barby and some beers in the evening as a reward for you and your mates hard work!
