I have a recessed shelf I’m wanting to install in the bathroom, top floor 2.5 storey house. I’ve stripped back the plasterboard and insulation and hit some timber in the space where the wall starts to slope into the roofline. Should I leave it be, cover the hole, and move the shelf elsewhere, or can I remove *some* of the timber to ensure a fit for the recessed shelf? The shelf depth is 10cm so I need to remove approx 2.5cm of the wood….
