Hi, I have a steep sloping drive, where it flattens slightly there’s a large manhole cover next to a drain grid, which is set higher, leaving a gap for muck and leaves to go down.

It gets driven over so needs to be better really.
Could anybody please tell me what’s the best way of sorting it ?
Thanks

Hard to tell without seeing it but a linear drain might suit.

the gulley hopper head was set too high for receiving drainage from the driveway, so somebody smashed a piece of the clay rim off to allow water to enter the gulley and drain the driveway.
water and muck and leaves can now bypass the grid by going under it - maybe the grid has itself become unbalanced?

best practice would be to dig out and replace the hopper head and raising piece at the height required.
any attempt at a repair would probably be destroyed by your car.
in the meantime, check if that gulley is trapped, and if so clean out any trap.

i dont see any manhole cover.

Thanks that makes sense, the corner in one of the pictures is the manhole cover.
