Is there a retro-fit siphon for condensate pipes?

Vaillant do/did one for ecomax boilers (Part number 2370104) which I imagine is still available although I couldn't find a picture. Or try googling "Vaillant 180985" which is the siphonic trap out of an ecoTEC plus. You could easily bodge that under any boiler.

Just to burst this bubble, it doesnt seem to matter how the trap discharges, it still freezes.
You do have a better chance of the condensate not freezing if it's sluiced down in batches rather than comes as a continual drip. That's why boiler manufacturers put autosiphons in.

If you had a big enough condensate reservoir filled with lime chippings, say, could you then discharge into iron drains or septic tanks?

I suspect you'd need to vent it outside too.

Those were the days, 'twas a good little earner a few years ago sorting out frozen condense pipes and upgrading them:cool: not so common now it seems.
