Due to expensive heating costs I decided to upgrade our loft insulation, its only half way through that I was made aware by a random google article about asbestos loft insulation. Now Im concerned it could be loose fill asbestos insulation. It's yellow and fluffy, see photo attached.

Our home is 1920s

Any help is much appreciated.

It appears to be loose fill fibreglass.

But, I would suggest that for most work with any type of insulation in a loft, it would be best practice to wear appropriate PPE, coverall, gloves, FFP3 mask etc.

Loose fill fibreglass isn't nearly as risky to deal with as asbestos, but it is still horrible stuff; if you go about the work in a sensible way, you will minimise any risks, even if there was some asbestos present :)

If you are still concerned, an asbestos test can be arranged online for about £30
