Is this imperfection ok on the architrave?

architrave pins or if using a small oval nail stand it on it's head and hit the point with a hammer - kind of blunts the point and lessens splitting

+1 to pre-gluing them before final nailing. I use the 2-part mitre bond. Instant fix - game changer and never get a non-perfect mitre. I do it for skirting external corners too.

A decent sliding mitre saw makes this sort of job easy. As above, 2-part mitre bond can be a game changer. For wide archs I usually slide a biscuit in which helps maintain alignment.
