Is this likely to be asbestos?

Our house had a piece of board used to block up a doorway between the kitchen and a downstairs bedroom. I wondered if it could be asbestos.

I unscrewed it and managed to remove it without much breakage, wearing a decent mask. I've put the board in the garden.

Can anyone advise whether this looks like it might be asbestos or not?

According to our local council's website, I can take sheets of cement bonded asbestos board to the tip, as long as it is double-bagged and taped up securely. Is this "cement bonded board"?

If so, the sheet is so big I think I might have to break it in half in the garden before I bag it up.

Does this sound like a reasonable plan or should I be panicking, contacting asbestos specialists or something?

Thanks

It's hard to say (it looks possible) but if you ere on the side of caution and suppose it is then you can't go wrong.
If you need to break it up to bag it then dampening it down will reduce the risk , in fact with all this rain we are having why not break it up and bag it when it's tipping it down.

When i worked for an ARC was told if it had the pattern on like yours has then it was asbestos, it'll certainly be cement based like soffits and gutters/drainpipes so not the real nasty stuff you'd need an ARC for. Check whether you can see fibres around the edge, thats normally an indication of asbestos.

If you don't want to snap then wrap it in some damp proof membrane, the guys used to do that on big sheets and wrap it like a present and tape up the joints, wrap it twice like that

it looks like asbestos, i would put it on a piece of uneven ground and jump up and down on it then bag it.
