I have read and been told that on the first coat of fresh plaster i need to roll first and then cut in. The following coats I would need to cut in first and then roll.

Is this correct?

Ive emulsioned /mist coated many miles of bare plaster .. take it from me .. cut in first roll next.. do one wall at a time tho...I think any decci will say same.. people who write about it are good at talking about it but in practice.. hmm lol.

lol you star.

Btw since the ceilings and walls are all going to be white, when cutting in do i concentrate on the ceiling edge only or the complete edge where the ceiling meets the wall?

Furthermore when you get to say the final coat which is going to be a fine coat, sometimes you can tell where you are painting as pure white is hard to tell when you are adding a new coat over. What are the best methods of knowing what you are painting since your going over it with the same colour?

I personally would do the ceiling edges first.. But there have been times when pushe d that I have cut wall and ceiling together.. on mist cot.

Try to paint in natural daylight.. its a nightmare in evening with light on..
Try to start from a window so you can see the wet glint of the coat you are applying..
