Im currently renovating my bathroom and need to isolate the hot and cold supplies to the taps/wc etc.

The existing pipe work doesnt have any isolation valves so i can shut off the mains and there is also a large cold water tank in the loft with a gate valve that i can shut off.

For the hot water, there is only a cold feed tank in the loft, also with a gate valve.
If i shut off the cold feed to to the cylinder then drain down the tank(or just open the hot taps til water stops running)

I should be able to then go ahead and disconnect the taps and do the work i need to to right??
or is there anything im missing?

(will also fit iso valves in the bathroom while im at it)

oh its a open vented system/cylinder system (not sure the correct name)

Yes, the tank won't actually empty but just run the hot taps until they stop.
