Can I wire 5 main voltage downlights (35w) in parallel from the first JB?

I plan to use a JB for each downlight with a tail to the downlight connector.

Or should I just run T&E to each lamp connector so each one has two sets of T&E except for the last one?

I'm not sure which is the best way (safest)

This is to replace an exisiting central ceiling rose.

Best way would be to daisy chain them, ie go from one, to the next, to the next... until you get to the last one

Many thanks, when you say daisy chain, am I right in thinking no JBs, just use T&E from lamp connector to lamp connector (screwfix mains dowlights)?

Small lighting JB's with heat resistant flex to the light would be the best way. These may be mains halogens, but they still get hot, and I have seen T&E damaged over time by this process. You want the JB about 500mm from the light.

The best cable would be Butyl Rubber, only needs to be 0.75mm² and willbe available from wholesalers.

Yes, use small junction boxes and leave plenty of slack on the wires so you can pull it down through the downlighter hole and inspect when it all goes wrong.
