My mate went today, he bolted a TV to his chimney breast and the bolts pierced the flue.

He burnt his finger when he changed channel.

You thought of that all yourself? Amazing

I know; Ians damned good isn't he. Great photographer, very self efacing and humble, and a great sense of humour. And it's a shame that more on this site don't come up to his level.

As you can guess, he gets my vote.

PS, and I like the Ostritch as well as his other half.

Oh, and as to Hunts idea, good lateral thinking.

"Trying to solve a problem in one part of the NHS by shifting it on to another won’t work."

Its barmy but its what I have to expect from Hunt.

In some ways I agree with you, but there are so many cases where people could deal with simple things themselves, so a form of Triage on the phone may cut down on the more important hospital time.

You already get that with 111 service.

Hunt doesnt think. He is the guy who was more interested whether a woman who had suffered FGM could still achieve an orgasm.

The NHS has a deep rooted problem that has gone too far in my opinion to be sorted out by an incumbent government. I think its time to have a cross party honest discussion about how the NHS should be funded and how its needs changing to cope with current demands. No party wants to tackle it because it is such a hot potato. I know a certain minister with an unfortunate rhyming name hasnt been great for the NHS or indeed the Tory party in general.

However the problems have been growing over many years. For example the cost of repaying PFI's at £2Billion per year.

We have a system that is free at the point of entry for a population that has grown in size, has a larger number of older people living longer and a society of unhealthy living. (type 2 £11billion per year)

Perhaps we should look at the German and French health care models and see if a shift to their funding arrangements would be better.

The problems in the NHS manifest themselves at A&E departments.

A lot of people would be in the same boat as I was in recently. Phoned local doc as was getting headaches & dizzy spells, couldn't be seen for over 2 weeks ,

They spend more than the UK on healthcare. Any suggestions on how to pay for it?
