I'm building a hot tub and recently purchased a used pump from a jacuzzi. Sadly although the motor turns it sounds very slow and suction is much lower than that of my vaccuum cleaner! The motor is a GEC Machines D52305 and is significantly larger than the one in my vaccuum cleaner. If anyone can suggest a reason for this lack of power I would very much like to hear it.

You were sold a faulty pump...

Might be one possibility. :)
