Hi all,
I have a Jaguar combi boiler which I have been led to believe has a broken diverter valve - central heating works fine but can't get any hot water now at all. I could get water for a few months if I had the heating on but now it is just luke warm. So I got an engineer round and he said that there wasn't any point in replacing the valve as it would be quite expensive and not worth it for a budget boiler so he just quoted me for a new boiler. The boiler itself is now about 8 years old, fitted before I moved in and I have had no problems with it at all up until now. I am aware that it is a very cheap boiler so does this seem reasonable to assume that fixing it would cost too much?
I am female and living alone and I have no clue about boilers so its not something I can do myself and I don't know anyone who would do it for me either so I will be paying full whack for a repair if I go down that route.
So what do people think? Give up on the boiler or try and get it fixed. How long do these sort of boilers usually last?
