Joint compound before shower pump and valves

Just loose fitted up my shower pump and shower valve install.

Ive got a couple of isolation valves on the hot and cold inlets to the pump and wondering if its good or bad practice to use a bit of joining compound on the olives?

Or could i be potentially be creating a problem if any of the compound finds its way into the pump and the valve further down the line.

I know its technically not required but have always used a bit of hawk white on olives in the past on other applications

Being new olives you shouldnt need anything but lots of people do add a smear of a compound so if it makes you feel better do so but not hawk white

Cheers. I decided not to use any thing on the first attempt.... If i get any leaks i can undo and add something afterwards
