Joist hangers

I have some simpson joist hangers which bend over and are nailed to the top of the wall plate. all good here. but i cannot nail the top section of these hangers into the steel. what do i do here ? i have been told to just bend them over and not nail them.

I am getting a welder to do some welding, so i could have them welded in place i suppose.

is it a mistake not to nail or weld ?

These sppedy straps are designed to be fixed up, over and down the back of the supporting beam or joist.

They may be OK with just limited fixings on the front, or they may not. Alternatively source a different type or different method of fixing

Hire a cartridge gun (nail gun) Will fire nails through the straps and into the steel.
