Hi , I have an arch thats about 6 foot it has an RSJ, but I,d like it wider about 7 and a half foot - so how do you swap a shortish joist for a longer joist
What he said. But you'd probably get a longer section of steel, prop up above with acros/strongboys, remove old one, insert new one, then widen the opening to suit.
Unlikely, but you might need a larger sized steel if the existing one is at it's limits.
