Hi everyone,

Just trying to establish what size of floor joist I should get.

The room size is roughly 5m x 1.8m. The joists would run from hangers on the house side to the external wall. They would be 1.8m in length. Was hoping to have them at, roughly, 400s across the 5metres.

Cheers,

JD

hah, tiny ones. And I was thinking of 175 x 47s...

Great, thanks for the reply.

limerock's right.

besides, if using 175 deep joists, will you have sufficient clearance above the oversite finish?

Thanks yea, there is loads of space (I dug out deeper in expectation of putting in a solid floor but my dear wife helped clarify our need for suspended timber flooring).

We used those joist sizes (175 x 47) on the roof so I was thinking of that size, at least, for the flooring. Am relieved - minimally from a cost perspective - that this may not be the case.
