Hi,

Just checking, is normal for windows to have screws on the keep side going into the other window? See photos attached.

Also, is it possible to adjust the cams up or down or is it only in or out?

No not really, a picture of the whole window from the inside and point out where the screws are.

No, the screws are screwed from the central pillar but into the left hand side window. They haven’t broken thought just though it was strange as obviously they are screwed in around the frame but wondered why they are screwed into each other? 3 windows fitted and only one as screws into the other? They are either screws that hold the reinforcing inside the mullion (vertical profile) or screws to secure the dummy sash.

Either way they should have been hidden and screwed in through the other side.

Many thanks, Is it likely then that they put the dummy sash in first and didn’t realise and just got lazy and screwed through the other side? Sorry how do the windows normally arrive before install, i assume they are just the bare frame and then they put the dummy sash and then the hinged sash in after, or do they come with the dummy sash and they just put the glass in. Do the hinges come already installed on the window and just need screwing to the frame?

I'm guessing It's a manufacturer fault, the fabricator in the factory probably put the mullion into welder the wrong way round.

Dummy sash, hinges etc are all fitted in the factory, only the glass comes separate in most cases but some windows do come complete as in pre-glazed.

Many thanks, sorry one last question, if the cams are hitting the bottom and middle keeps, are they adjustable up and down or is it only in and out?

Well they would have needed to unscrew the dummy sash to get the frame fixings into the wall, most fabricators fit them on hinges now despite not opening and then just screw them shut but I've never know any of them to screw the dummy from the opening side, could be the fitters shut the window and screwed it shut from the opening side instead of the dummy side where you wouldn't see the screws once glazed, strange!!!!

Also if I'm being really picky then the window should have had a 15/20mm add on to each side because as it is now you've lost all of the frame behind a thick plaster line both sides and doesn't look uniform to the head surveyor needs a talking to, if it was me I wouldn't accept it
