Just Checking Is This Normal

Well they would have needed to unscrew the dummy sash to get the frame fixings into the wall, most fabricators fit them on hinges now despite not opening and then just screw them shut but I've never know any of them to screw the dummy from the opening side, could be the fitters shut the window and screwed it shut from the opening side instead of the dummy side where you wouldn't see the screws once glazed, strange!!!!

Also if I'm being really picky then the window should have had a 15/20mm add on to each side because as it is now you've lost all of the frame behind a thick plaster line both sides and doesn't look uniform to the head surveyor needs a talking to, if it was me I wouldn't accept it
Many thanks, its 6mm plastic beading round the sides, top and bottom, is that what you mean when you say plaster line, I see what you mean about the frame, I assumed that was my dodgy walls causing it but from what your saying they should have had a smaller window to allow an extra 15/20 mm on the frame. I also have another window, see photo where there is a screw hole, which I can only assume the messed up again but either screwing through the wrong size or using too long a screw from the other side. In terms to the cams hitting the bottom and middle keeps, are these adjustable to move up and down or can they only be moved in and out? One last thing, if the hinges have had to be replaced and there is now nothing to screw into, I am being told that they want to use longer screws to screw in and hit the reinforcing inside the window, is this something that should be done and is acceptable, thanks again.

If brand new you shouldnt have to be adjusting anything.

I would get them back as bad workmanship.

thanks, yes I am. if the hinges need replacing and as there isn’t anything to screw into as they as they have already had screws in there, is it acceptable for them to use longer screws to hit the reinforcing in the window. Thanks again.

Also what type of screws should be used to fit hinges to upvc windows. Self tapping? Thanks
