Hi
Looking for some expert advice on the correct process for preparing a bathroom which has wooden floorboards ready for Karndean cushioned vinyl flooring to be laid.

I have looked at a number of posts which recommend laying 6mm ply fixed at maximum 150mm centers. I would be very grateful if the 150mm centers bit could be spelled out for a numpty.

Finally, it would also be helpful explaining the applying of the skim coat eg why is it required etc.

Be gentle with me I have enough of her in-doors at me

Many thanks

Graham

Hi Graham

Yes 6mm WBP ply is correct.

150mm (minimum, not maximum centres) is the distance between each nail fixing the ply down, which must be "ring shank nails"

A skim coat isn't required unless you have gaps between your ply in which case it is called feather edge and available from specialist suppliers. Instructions on the bag!!
