I have a Keston 60 boiler. A few months ago, it started having ignition problems - had the Ram box changed but that made no difference. We then noticed that the pressure was also excessive and that it would increase to 3bars within a few hours (from 1 bar), but then come back down. We changed the expansion vessel and that made no difference either - if anything, it now goes to 3 bars even quicker (and then subsequently drops). It looks like the burner stays continually on, which means the boiler never has time to cool down (before re-firing) hence pressure builds. Further, once I have manually turned it off, it refuses to re-ignite until 2 or 3 hours, presumably for a part to cool down (though I don't know which one).

Can you think of any sensor which needs to be checked or replaced for the pressure problem?
Also, can any one explain the ignition problem immediately after a burn?

Any ideas will be highly appreciated. Thanks

No you haven't. Lying is not allowed on the forum, please desist

The pressure is going up either because water is passing through a heating coil, in a hot water cylinder, or because your filling loop isn't shut properly. Solution to the second is easy - disconnect the filling loop. It may then squirt all over the place of course...

Your boiler isn't a part of this, unless it's a combi. Perhaps it's a C40 ?? They didn't do a 60, afaik.

Yes they do, it is one of the earlier model.

Quote from Keston website:"Keston took off in the domestic sector with Keston 50, Keston 60 and Keston 80 boilers".

I am afraid it is a Keston 60. Filling loop is shut as far as I can tell (plus otherwise I think pressure would not go back down to less than 1 bar). Thanks
